Articles
Whenever possible, the title of the article will be a hyperlink to a freely available PDF versions of article. In some cases, access to articles is not free. In those cases if the article is archived with JSTOR or similar access portal, the title will link to the article on that access portal.
However, these access portals often do not provide access options for individuals who do not belong to a subsscribing institution. This makes it frustratingly difficult for such individuals to get access to some journal articles. For this reason, we will attempt to obtain physical hard copy versions of all journal articles cited for the society library.

Society Library
The Society Library does not yet exist. The visualized purpose of the library:
- Aquire and maintain books (hardback when available) referenced by Shasta Herpetological Society web site and articles, particularly out of print references.
- Aquire and maintain hard copy journal articles referenced by Shasta Herpetological Society web site and articles, particularly articles for which free digital access is not available.
- Maintain subscriptions to select herpetological journals.
- Maintain a collection of topographical maps that can be used for surveys of remote areas of the county.
These resources will need to be made reasonably available to members who request to use them. Out of print materials that are difficult to find or otherwise of high value probably should only be made available in the presence of librarian and not loaned out. But policy decisions can come later.
