With hosting costs, domain registration, and the SSL certificate needed for secure user registration and login, this web site costs me over $300 a year to operate.

There also were some initial one time expenses. I needed to properly license of some of the fonts used in image generation, license a quality flash based media player, and I purchased a couple technical books related to XML, php, databases, etc.

In addition to the raw financial cost, a considerable amount of time has been put into the development of the web site, including coding the application to generate the range maps and coding a rather advanced output filter to give an added layer of security to the public viewing this site.

To help mitigate some of the costs involved in developing and operating this web site, I would like to offer businesses the opportunity to sponsor this site and in return for their generosity, place a standard 468 x 60 banner advertisement in a random rotation that will appear at the top of the site web pages.

I do wish to limit such advertisement to businesses that are not adult content in nature, this is the kind of web site that youth are encouraged to visit. With the exception of valid conservation causes, I also do not want to allow advertisements that are political in nature.

If you are interested in sponsoring this web site, you will get you advertisement put into the rotation for a minimum of 30 days per $10 of sponsorship or a minimum of 90 days for $25 of sponsorship. You must provide the banner in JPEG, PNG, or GIF format (no animations please) and a URL you want the advertisement to link to. I am sorry but I can not allow flash advertisements, too many of them do naughty things.

I must insist upon hosting the banner advertisement image here on my server to prevent advertisers from replacing an in-line linked banner with one that is not acceptable, something that has happened to me with other web sites in the past.
